Abstract

The artworks by Kendal Murray 'Indirect Paths' and 'Patterns of Recognition' chosen for the 9 by 5 exhibition, investigate the ways in which fragments of painted timber can be pieced together, manipulated and layered with gestural marks to become signifiers within a visual narrative about memory and the physical awareness we have of remembered spaces. Combinations of 3D and 2D collage and painterly treatments have been used to express the alienation and familiarity experienced in the interrogation of memory. Exhibition dates: 29 November - 20 December 2018.
