Abstract
To meet the high demands on the electrical power due to the growth in populations more high voltage projects are captured by the development scopes. To save on easement cost and to reduce the environmental impact of these projects, HV transmission lines occupy the same easement as pipelines in many cases. This joint easement introduces the AC interference between transmission lines and pipelines. Many researchers have studied the safety implication on humans due to this induced voltage. This research applies the shielding factor concept when analyzing the induced voltage under the presence of the OHEW. The approach in this paper involves the overhead earth wire section current with the superposition theorem to compute the induced voltage. The case study discusses the condition where the earth wire is broken between two substations. The simulations are compared with the existing researches methods. The case study along with the theoretical study discusses the impact of a broken OHEW on the induced voltage using the current research methods and the proposed method.
