Abstract

This study investigates the impact of experimental conditions on the thermal decomposition and char formation of cladding materials through Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The experiments are conducted in nitrogen and oxygen environments, employing a heating rate of 10°C/min. In this study, three different Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) with varying percentages of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), specifically 100% LDPE, 30% LDPE, and 7% LDPE are used. The TGA analysis enables a comprehensive examination of the thermal behaviour of these cladding materials under different atmospheres, providing insights into their decomposition kinetics and char formation processes. The results obtained from this research contribute to a better understanding of the fire performance characteristics of ACP cladding under fire modelling, aiding in the development of enhanced safety measures and fire-resistant materials for building applications.
