    Abstract

![CDATA[Despite growth of Australian business franchising into international markets, there is limited academic research regarding the implementation process of business format franchise systems extending into international markets. This paper examines the implementation process of four Australian retail business format franchising systems into four Asia-Pacific markets. Case research methodology approach was undertaken to include two food and two non food cases involving 12 interviews. The international business franchise system could have more challenges as circumstances of individual countries may increase the complexity of the implementation process. Incomplete information such as environmental uncertainty and selfinterest may cause agency problems. Specific information searches reduce these agency problems in the international business franchise relationship.]]
