Inside Outside and Beyond: Storytelling in the Digital Space with Young Refugees and Migrants

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

This chapter examines issues related to digital performance and pedagogy, reflecting on the Inside Outside and Beyond project that became one of the catalysts for the development of digital displacement. The research enquiry examined the influence of the lockdown restrictions on the inclusion, exclusion and sense of belonging for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds who had recently arrived in Dublin. We argue that the participants experienced a sense of belonging to a 'digitally displaced' learning community as a result of the condition of a global lockdown. We highlight how this digital displacement affected the dynamics of online and group liveness, and arts-based online practice.
