    Abstract

![CDATA[An evolutionary spectral method is presented to model the interaction between vehicle and bridge with different random surface roughness to evaluate the dynamic axle loads on bridges from single or multiple moving vehicles. The vehicle-bridge interaction is assumed to consist of the deterministic moving dynamic force induced by the vehicle weight, and the random interaction force owing to the road pavement roughness. With linear elastic response assumption, they are calculated separately using the Runga-Kutta method. The total moving dynamic load is obtained by superimposing the loads from these two parts. Parametric calculation is carried out to study the effects of the road surface roughness, vehicle speed and vehicle number on the dynamic vehicle-bridge interaction. The Dynamic Amplification Factor and Dynamic Load Coefficient obtained from the numerical simulations are compared with those specified in bridge design code.]]
