Abstract
In this special issue, readers will find innovative and challenging articles that grapple with different perspectives and concerns for the traumatized worker. It is hoped that this collection will assist in highlighting the plight of the traumatized worker and encourage further debate. The literature increasingly confirms that our workplaces are toxic, abusive, marginalizing, and discriminatory; in short, crucibles of bullying, emotional, psychological, and physical violence, unbridled managerialism and unreasonable demands. This, in turn, exposes employees to stressful and troublesome work experiences that jeopardize health, impinge on families and communities, and stifle (even destroy) careers. The increasing centrality of work in our lives, including expectations of longer working hours alongside reduced job security, presses us to reconsider the plight of the modern ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"traumatized worker.ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚Â
