Abstract

The chapter covers the history and background of Self-compacting concrete, its need and benefits. The research on SCC from 1988 to 1991 has also been discussed. The basic requirements for the production of SCC have been covered along with the mechanism behind the SCC. Design methodologies and basic properties of SCC have also been discussed in detail.
