    Abstract

Previous research suggests that iron deficiency anaemia is a significant problem for African women in Australia. There are few studies looking at the needs of African women and the prevalence of this problem, especially in the context of the Sydney South West Area Health Service. The aim of this project is to access self-reported information about incidence and knowledge of iron deficiency anaemia from African women living around the Liverpool area, and then to develop and implement an educational program to improve knowledge and understanding. Following this, a further self-reported survey is applied with a view to evaluating effectiveness.
