Abstract
Incentivised competition and a ‘culture of speed’ have come to characterise the prevailing academic research landscape, promoting research practices that conflict with good science, and which have detrimental consequences for research quality (including contributions to the replication crisis), and researchers’ mental health (Niso et al., 2022). In parallel with the rise in this research culture, ongoing technological innovation supports significant advances in research data handling, resulting in the continuous evolution of increasingly complex data processing methodologies (Garrett-Ruffin et al., 2021).
