Abstract
![CDATA[This paper attempts to trace the evolution from Yerkes and Dodson's original paper to the Yerkes Dodson Law as frequently presented today through the possible influence of similar models developed from Hebb (1955) and others, in order to throw some light on what it is that is being referred to under the title the Yerkes Dodson Law, and how the wide acceptance that some stress or anxiety is required for top performance, in the management practitioner literature in particular, may have repressed the concept of eustress as a separate entity from distress as originally formulated by Selye (1956; 1964).]]
