Abstract
Liver transplantation is a successful treatment option with a one-year survival rate of 96%, a three-year survival of 85% and a five-year survival rate of 70%, with efficient donor-recepient selection. For a successful transplantation, nurses in the team may reduce complications by taking necessary steps in all perioperative stages, such as effective patient selection, patient preparation and other processes. This will facilitate the transplantation process for the patient, reduce the length of hospital stay and healthcare costs, while improving the short and long term outcomes by management of the team and the process. The most essential competence is the current knowledge specific to liver transplantation, to monitor the legal and ethical aspects of care, and for patient advocacy at every stage. Therefore, the management of liver transplantation was examined according to the latest literature and guideline recommendations in this article.
