Abstract
To explain how we can develop intelligent tennis players I adopt, on the one hand, the ideas of Smith (2014) about complementary pairs and on the other hand, the concepts of Watkins and Noble (2013) on the habitus of playing sports. These ideas help us to respond to the question on how we can develop an intelligent 'habitus' for tennis players.
