Abstract
Please allow us to comment on the publication ‘Erosion of soft tissue by polypropylene mesh products’ by Amanda Schmidt and David Taylor(Schmidt and Taylor, 2021). The authors claim to have examined ‘erosion’ of synthetic sling implants used in uropgynaecology since 1995. In the view of the undersigned this is an untenable claim and likely due to unfamiliarity with the nature of what is termed ‘erosion’ or ‘exposure’ in clinical practice and research.
