Logistical power

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

Studies in critical logistics combine the question of circulation with that of economy to engage matters of efficiency, supply, and computation that have come to the fore in contemporary capitalism. This chapter asks if logistical techniques and technologies can be effectively analysed under the rubric of governmentality. By mapping how practices of logistical tracking and control reorient the relation of war to politics, demand a notion of circulation that accounts for the valorization and accumulation of capital, and enact epistemologies that are not contained by statistical methods, the chapter argues that logistical power cuts across and rearranges relations among other forms of power, including those described by Foucault as sovereign and governmental powers.
