Abstract

Pseudo-fungi are structures that look like true fungi. They often give a positive periodic acid-Schiff and a negative Grocott’s methenamine silver reaction. From a therapeutic point of view, it is important to correctly characterize these structures as one or the other. This review presents guidelines for their accurate histochemical diagnosis.
