Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

The singer's journey for Lotte Latukefu in preparing the Asian-Pacific work Daragang Magayon Cantata by New Zealand born composer Bruce Crossman is one which evolved as an artistic partnership between performers and composer. As a means of exploring the singer's journey and artistic process, this essay uses an interview with Latukefu and in so doing, privileges her perspective of the performance discussed. Because of the importance of the process in the final presentation of the work, a performance analysis will be presented as a means of discussing ways in which the singer prepared for, and performed, two performances.
