Managing nanowaste : concepts and challenges for nanomanufacturers

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

    Abstract

This chapter explores a range of issues surrounding the management of nanowaste among nanotechnology research and manufacturing organisations ("nanowaste generators"). Principles are explored in terms of characterising, measuring and handling nanowaste. These efforts are essential if communities are to (a) derive benefit from nanotechnologies over the longer term and (b) be assured that human health and ecosystems are protected from the potential adverse effects of uncontrolled and increasing volumes of nanowaste entering the environment.
