    Abstract

The modern concept of maritime boundary delimitation developed holding together its two main branches, delimitation standards on the one hand, and delimitation criteria on the other. Delimitation standards include different maritime zones and their limit of extent, while delimitation criteria comprise the principles and methods of delimitation, technicalities of drawing maritime boundaries between opposite or adjacent States, configuration of the coast, geological and geomorphological aspects of the maritime zones, special circumstances of coastal States and their sea zones etc.
