    Abstract

In the following pages, only brief descriptions (teasers) are given of two papers presented at the 31st annual conference of the Mathematics Education Group of Australasia (MERGA) held at the University of Queensland, St. Lucia Brisbane. The papers are presented here: with a primary school focus; with only part of the paper given; and with most of the research methodology removed. The theme chosen for MERGA conference drew attention to "the turbulent times we live in as researchers as we constantly pushed to account for the quality and impact of our wok, but also to remind ourselves that we must chart our own course and make our own research futures". It particulary highlighted the benefits of collaboration between researchers, practising classroom teachers and curriculum developers.
