Abstract

Methotrexate is an analogue of folates (Fig. 1) and is a cytotoxic drug used in the treatment of several malignancies. At low doses, methotrexate is a member of the drug group slow-acting antirheumatic drugs (SAARDs). Methotrexate is also a member of a group of drugs known as conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs).
