Abstract
In September 2010, a substantial quantity of georgeite was observed as a precipitate from water issuing from a small adit at the Lloyd copper mine at Burraga, New South Wales. The setting is an ephemeral acid mine drainage (AMD) system, which is neutralised in patches by carbonate gangue minerals. Other blue to green precipitates in seeps associated with a weathering tailings dump are unidentified, amorphous Cu-rich materials of unknown composition.
