Abstract

ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã‹Å“Chillagite,ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ Pb(Mo,W)O4 with Mo W, from the Christmas Gift mine, Chillagoe, Queensland, was described as a new mineral nearly a century ago, but later workers concluded that it was merely a member of the solid-solution series extending between the end-members wulfenite, PbMoO4, and stolzite, PbWO4. This article re-examines the crystal structure of wulfenite to determine the status of ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã‹Å“chillagiteÃƒÂ¢Ã¢"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢.
