Abstract
The charity St Andrew's Healthcare offers a user"‘focused library service for its inpatients as an integral part of its recovery-based care and treatment. The library has grown to meet the demand for multimedia and a range of reading materials, while operating in a challenging environment. This article examines how an effective library service can aid social inclusion and recovery, describes the development of the service and identifies challenges and elements important to its success.
