Abstract
A basic knowledge of Islamic banking and finance has become important for legal practitioners, partly because of recent support the industry has received from the Australian government. This article seeks to provide an overview of Islamic legal principles, the features of the Islamic commercial system and the nature and types of Islamic finance.
