    Abstract

This paper aims to fulfill two objectives: first, to fill a gap in the academic literature by examining multinational mining and petroleum companies' (MPC) perceptions of the existing policy framework regulating the mining and petroleum industry in Papua New Guinea and secondly, to analyse the challenges small countries like Papua New Guinea face in providing an environment appropriate for multinational companies, particularly those in the mining and petroleum sector.
