Abstract

Music Matters is a pilot program that combines Music Therapy with Auditory Verbal Therapy in a unique parent training program. This program has been funded by the Australian Government, which generously gave a grant to The Shepherd Centre toward the development of this program. Music Matters is an 8-week parent education program designed to give parents the skills and confidence to use a variety of musical activities at home with their children. The program was delivered in 6 locations including Newtown, Macquarie, Canberra, Wollongong, Liverpool and via telehealth. Based on previous groups facilitated at this centre, the groups coordinator indicated that these Music Matters programs were very well attended.
