Abstract
International practice teaching sessions by pre-service music educators in Fiji and Taiwan are analysed for their potential to assist trainee teachers in the development of teaching skills and the ability to reflect on their training and its application. By adapting their understanding of teaching and learning from an Australian perspective to schools in other education systems, students demonstrated an ability to identify generic skills and manipulate them purposefully. Implications for practicum as a component of teacher training programs are considered.
