Abstract
This research analyzes the knowledge and use of gender theories in the 2004 Brazilian Physical Education Undergraduate Exam (ENADE). In doing so, we investigate the understanding that future physical education teachers have about gender social relationships. Persistent ideologies in the context of physical education and sport often propagate the idea that bodily and biological differences and even physical abilities dissimilarities between men and women cause social gender differences; hence, there is the interest in analyzing gender stereotypes in this exam, which addresses gender topics in sport, where we find inconsistencies in their formulation in response options, compromising and obscuring an effective analysis of gender relationships by the prospective teachers in the Physical Education area.
