Abstract
Once school's finished, there's every reason for designers to wonder how to make a buck. If you're at a loose end, and things aren't working out quite the way you dreamed, then why not draw on the conditions of your self- and collective formation, namely education? For it is in new modalities of education that designers have a particularly strong contribution to make in terms of advancing knowledge and practices in their field, while creating an open resource that serves as a means of income generation and research financing. How to do this? Let me suggest one key venture: the creation of new institutions for design education that reside outside the formal system of the art school and university. This is my proposal for a new business model.
