    ![CDATA[In all, feminist critique was strong in the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka, and brought into scholarly limelight necessary texts and archives of increasing relevance in the region. In terms of Indian writing in English, the canonical writers continued to command respect and attention, but not enough work was done on less well-known but significant and emerging writing. Exciting translation work came into being, but again, not enough of it, despite the growing sense in world literature of avenues unexplored.]]
