Abstract

This report introduces the 'Next Generation Cool Car Park Prototype'" a novel solution that reduces surface and air temperatures in unshaded car parks while simultaneously expanding urban green infrastructure without reducing the number of available parking bays. The combination of vines, trellises and a wire metal mesh form the core of this solution. The prototype was built and operated at Holroyd Gardens in the Local Government Area of Cumberland City. The gardens, a social hot spot for local communities, are located in the geographic centre of metropolitan Sydney, Australia.
