Abstract
This article is directed at students and teachers of History Extension and gives ideas and insight about investigating and understanding the theoretical positions of historians, with Edward Said and Keith Thomas given as example. This is a truncated version of a highly evaluated presentation delivered at the 2009 Annual HTA NSW Conference, adapted by the authors for publication in Teaching History.
