Abstract

The authors present a scheme of hybrid optimisation using parallel simulated annealing and a Lagrange multiplier for optimal SVC planning. Aiming for voltage stability enhancement, the proposed scheme is posed as a multiobjective optimisation problem for maximising a fuzzy performance index, which represents the system reactive power (VAR) margin, system I2R losses and voltage depressions at critical points. To ensure robustness, the paper proposes a four-step procedure for synthesising optimal VAR reinforcement.
