    Abstract

A study of mobile phones in the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Sydney and Melbourne found that mobile phones are an essential technology for people experiencing homelessness. Yet, while most have mobile phones, and many have smartphones, users go for lengthy periods without or with limited access due to credit shortages, service restrictions, phone loss/damage and non-use due to high phone or data costs.
