Organizational-professional conflict in medicine

Anneke Fitzgerald, Ann Dadich

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

    Abstract

This chapter indicates that the appointment of professionals as managers in health care has the potential to amplify organizational-professional conflict. By implication, this suggests that government efforts to align organizational and professional ideologies might in fact have dire consequences for both the professional and the organization. There is thus a need to reconsider these efforts if better health care management is considered desirable.
