    Abstract

In the Cobar region of central New South Wales there are numerous deposits, many of which were mined in the period 1870 to 1930. All that remains of them are old shafts, open cuts and dumps. Many of the dumps were leached for copper during later years. Although most deposits contained lead and zinc, only copper, gold and occasionally silver were recovered in the majority of mines. Several mineral occurrences in these mines are described in this article.
