Abstract
Chinese medicine has been used for thousands of years to promote longevity, boost memory, and support age-related changes in cognition (Phu et al., 2020). This practice combines knowledge and beliefs with multifaceted healing approaches such as herbal extracts and concoctions, mind–body exercises such as tai chi, and manual therapies such as acupuncture to address health problems. The thorough and wholistic approach to this practice is intrinsic to promoting quality of life. People living with cognitive impairments and dementia are increasingly turning to alternative, complementary, and nonpharmacological therapies to manage their symptoms (Steiner et al., 2021). This is especially important as the world grapples with an aging population and increasing prevalence of brain illnesses such as dementia (World Health Organization [WHO], 2018).
