    Abstract

![CDATA[Teaching, learning and research on strategy related to the employment of people currently are based on the literature related to industrial relations management. In practice, however, both types of strategy may be found and may interact with each other. A more comprehensive paradigm that reflects practice is needed. Such a strategic paradigm would need to include change management, occupational health and safety and diversity management among its functional processes. A strategic employment relations paradigm, whic incorporates these functional processes, is emerging in practice in healthcare organisations internationally.]]
