Abstract

A method for photo-electrochemical hydrogen generation from water was presented by using solar energy. Different types of photo-electrochemical cells (PEC) were overviewed and the impact of the PEC structure and materials selection on the conversion efficiency of the solar energy were considered. It was shown that the sophisticated materials engineering must be used for processing the materials that satisfies the specific requirements for photo-electrodes.
