Abstract

The article focuses on pain and discomfort associated with invasive procedures and medical devices required among critically ill patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU). Topics discussed include moral and ethical dilemmas faced by nurses regarding physical restraints and a qualitative study that will explore the experiences of physical restraints during mechanical ventilation from the perspectives of the patients, families and nurses.
