Abstract

Herbal, nutritional and other complementary medicines are continuing to experience a renewed interest and popularity in developed nations worldwide. This increased trend in usage suggests that adverse herb-drug-nutrient interactions (HDNIs) may be of significant public health consequence and highlights the importance of sustained pharmacovigilance and evidence-based appraisal with the concurrent use of herbs, nutrients and drugs in a clinical setting.
