Abstract
The Community Project of Female Indoor Football Practice (P.E.P. Female Futsal – P.E.P. Futsal Feminino) was created in 2017, linked with the Physical Education undergraduate program at Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), located in southern Brazil. This chapter aims to investigate and analyze the support network P.E.P. Female Futsal offers to the women that participate in this project. Hence, in the period between November and December of 2019, four focus group meetings were conducted with the women who participated in the project. From the data produced in these meetings, three themes emerged: how these women perceive themselves as indoor football/futsal participants; the relations with peers established within indoor football/futsal; and, the constructed meanings concerning the P.E.P. Female Futsal space, which guarantees that they play football inside a public federal university. Therefore, the main argument that guides this study is that, as a community project of a public university, P.E.P. Female Futsal becomes an incentive to women’s futsal as a free leisure practice. It also projects FURG’s image in the broader society.
