Power, voice and connection

Research output: Chapter in Book / Conference PaperChapter

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to theorize our lived experiences in our shared supervisory journey. We want the chapter to mirror the values of the supervision, that is, to make power practices transparent and to create connection and space for personal voice. We chose a method that parallels our research practices by interviewing each other, theorizing the themes identified in the transcribed interviews, emphasizing personal voice in the text, and negotiating authorship (alphabetical) and writing tasks. We also selected our preferred "normalizing gaze," that is, the set of norms, values, or discourses by which we would evaluate ourselves and shape our writing voice.
