Abstract

Digital therapeutics can be defined as any type of app, software or digital device that can support the treatment of disease through patient behaviour modification and remote monitoring to improve chronic disease outcomes (Natanson, 2017). Everyday wearable technologies are disrupting and reforming traditional healthcare services. Nurses are the witnesses of the digital revolution in healthcare. Just last week a cardiology colleague advised that at least a few patients were referred to their service, who had an alert of a potential tachycardia detected by a smartwatch device.
