Abstract
The books by Doris Kartinyeri, Veronica Brodie and Dulcie Wilson, which are authentically autobiographical are discussed. The three Ngarrindjeri autobiographies are discussed with an aim to understand the biographical roots of publicly competing representations of the Ngarrindjeri heritage.
