Abstract
In the previous edition of Family Matters, Robyn Parker, in her article 'Perspectives on the future of marriage', discussed international perspectives on the retreat from marriage, the growth of cohabitation, and whether marriage is valued, concluding with some thoughts on what the future of marriage might be. Michele Simons, Head of School for the School of Education at the University of South Australia was invited to respond to the issues raised in the article.
