Abstract

Brazil is an exciting and diverse country. Who has not heard of at least one of these typical Brazilian trademarks: carnaval, samba, the Amazon, "The Girl From lpanema," bossa nova, or caipirinha? But these are far from what this country is all about. A nation as large and populous as Brazil cannot possibly be summarized in a few words. This chapter intends to briefly present the cultural diversity, contrasting worlds, and rich history of Brazil that may be better understood if experienced firsthand. Therefore, the chapter provides only a glimpse of what Brazil is and what its people do to have fun, relax, enjoy their friends and family, and seize the day. In summary, it describes what they do for leisure and recreation.
