Abstract

This book offers perspectives on the academic study of indigenous religions from scholars who identify, clarify and exemplify important theoretical issues by grounding their discussion in concrete situations ranging from contemporary field studies through historical and literary analysis. In each case, critical reflections on the significance and meaning of studying indigenous religions are suggested, which in turn post important questions for this emerging field in religious studies.
