Abstract
Living reference work entry: For many young persons of refugee background, the transition from their home country to the safety of a refugee camp involves a traumatic journey combined with years of displacement and dislocation. By involving pre-service teachers with the local refugee community, the educational opportunities for young people of refugee background are supported, while future educators are prepared for active and responsible citizenship.
